Court Security Manager

About the Role

The Ministry of Justice is looking for a Court Security Manager to oversee a team of up to 12 security officers located in Invercargill and Queenstown. This permanent full-time position based at the Gisborne District & High Court involves ensuring the safety and security of the court environment, facilitating justice access for the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor your security team to reach their full capabilities.
• Manage the operational aspects of teams working within a complex and challenging security context.
• Assess operational risks, making prompt, confident, and informed decisions.
• Forge and sustain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and community members.
• Collaborate effectively with external agencies such as the New Zealand Police, Department of Corrections, and Te Oranga Tamariki.
• Ensure professional and safe daily court operations.
• New hires based outside Wellington must participate in a mandatory three-week residential training in Wellington within their first three months.

Required Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• A strong customer service orientation.
• Competence in de-escalating conflicts effectively.
• Physical fitness to perform full-contact Officer Safety techniques.
• Comfortable and confident with technology use.
• Holder of a full, clean New Zealand driver's license.

Salary Information

The annual salary range for this position is between $74,634 and $95,591, depending on the applicant's skills and experience.
