Description de l'emploi

About the Company

Rodan Energy Solutions Inc. is a North American specialist in distributed energy resources and energy intelligence. The company oversees more than 1,400 MW of flexible capacity across Ontario, NYISO, PJM, MISO, and AESO, and works with major energy consumers, utilities, and grid operators to deliver high-value DER solutions such as asset optimization, demand response, metering, and power system engineering.

About the Role

The Corporate Controller is a senior finance leadership position responsible for owning Rodan Energy Solutions' accounting, reporting, compliance, and internal control activities across all entities. Reporting to the Director, Finance, this person will manage the full accounting cycle end to end, including transaction processing, month-end close, consolidations, statutory compliance, audit coordination, and control design, while also improving systems, workflows, and automation to help the business scale.

This role partners closely with the Director, Finance and FP&A to make sure management reporting is based on accurate, timely, and well-supported financial information.

Financial Reporting and Close

  • Take full ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities across every entity, with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Preserve the accuracy of the general ledger, subledgers, and all supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and review advanced journal entries, accruals, intercompany items, and accounting corrections.
  • Direct balance sheet reconciliations and the related review process.
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with ASPE.
  • Set close calendars, task ownership, and review checkpoints.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, revenue recognition, intercompany activity, and cash management.
  • Supervise settlement accounting and payment workflows, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and the right approvals.
  • Review cash movements and short-term liquidity needs to support payment execution.
  • Apply accounting policies consistently across entities, revenue streams, and business lines.
  • Work with Operations, Sales, HR, and other internal teams to confirm source data is complete and accurate.

Internal Controls and Compliance

  • Build, implement, and maintain a strong internal control framework across functions.
  • Keep the business ready for audit through strong documentation and reconciliations.
  • Own ongoing compliance for Canadian and U.S. indirect tax, payroll tax, and statutory filings.
  • Prepare lender reporting, covenant calculations, and compliance certificates.
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and control documentation.

Audit, Tax, and External Stakeholder Management

  • Lead the annual external audit and year-end review from start to finish.
  • Coordinate Canadian and U.S. corporate tax filings with external advisors.
  • Serve as the main finance contact for auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and other outside stakeholders.
  • Support legal entity changes, intercompany arrangements, and related compliance work.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team with clear accountability and strong execution expectations.
  • Strengthen role clarity, backup coverage, and cross-training to reduce dependence on single individuals.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and ongoing team development.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, discipline, and continuous learning.

Process Improvement, Systems, and Automation

  • Continuously improve finance processes and workflows to reduce manual effort and strengthen controls.
  • Lead the adoption of automation, system integrations, and AI-supported tools.
  • Partner on ERP and finance systems implementation, including process design, testing, and controls.
  • Contribute to a finance operating model that scales through better processes rather than linear headcount growth.

Business Partnership

  • Work closely with the Director, Finance and FP&A to ensure actual results are accurate and aligned with management reporting.
  • Provide accounting guidance on contracts, pricing models, new products, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support due diligence, financing work, acquisitions, and other special projects as needed.

Qualifications

This role requires a CPA designation and 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial controllership or senior accounting leadership exposure. Strong knowledge of technical accounting under IFRS is required, along with proven experience leading month-end close, external audits, internal controls, and statutory compliance. The ideal candidate will also bring experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidated reporting. Canadian and U.S. entity accounting, along with cross-border tax and compliance experience, is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience in modern ERP environments, workflow tools, and process automation is expected. Experience in energy, infrastructure, or similarly complex operating environments is considered an asset.

Skills and Competencies

  • Very high standards for accuracy, control, and audit readiness.
  • Strong systems mindset with a natural drive to automate, simplify, and improve workflows.
  • Able to work deeply in the details while also leading a function.
  • Confident, clear communicator with senior leaders, auditors, lenders, and non-finance partners.
  • Strong people leader who develops talent and raises performance.
  • Comfortable in fast-moving, multi-entity settings with competing priorities.
  • Proactive, practical, and comfortable being accountable for results.

Location and Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid role based at the Mississauga headquarters, with three days per week expected onsite.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Profit-sharing plan
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • Group RRSP with employer matching
  • Base salary and OTE, if applicable
  • Summer half-day Fridays aligned with the Ontario statutory holiday schedule

Life at Rodan

  • Regular celebrations throughout the year, including holiday parties, team dinners, bowling nights, go-karting, an annual summer BBQ, golf tournaments, and similar events.
  • Learning and development opportunities such as lunch-and-learns, crossword challenges, and education-funding programs.
  • Employee-led community giving initiatives, including food drives and fundraising for local charities.

Hiring Process

  • The selected candidate will need to complete a background check, which may include a criminal record check, credential verification, and a driver’s abstract if relevant.
  • Professional references will also be collected.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a practical assignment to demonstrate strategic thinking, creativity, and problem-solving on real role-related scenarios.
  • The company states that candidates will receive clear instructions and reasonable timelines for any assignment.
