Role Overview
As a ServiceNow Technical Consultant contractor within Datacom's dedicated practice, you will be instrumental in designing, constructing, and implementing superior ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, CSM, HRSD, CMDB, workflow automation, and other platform capabilities. Your work will support projects and consulting initiatives aligned with customer business goals.
You will engage with clients to identify their business challenges, architect custom-fit ServiceNow solutions, and lead these through the complete delivery cycle including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and training.
Though Datacom has offices throughout New Zealand, there is an expectation for this position to be based in one of the main centers such as Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, or Tauranga. The company encourages flexible working arrangements balancing in-office collaboration and remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and deliver comprehensive ServiceNow solutions spanning multiple workflows and modules.
- Collaborate with clients to assess business needs and translate these into scalable ServiceNow architectures and configurations.
- Lead specific project workstreams including requirements collection, design sessions, sprint planning, and technical implementation tasks.
- Customize the ServiceNow platform through forms, workflows, integrations, automation, business rules, and portal elements.
- Support the installation, testing, and deployment phases of ServiceNow solutions and facilitate user acceptance testing with clients.
- Identify project risks, issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement, escalating as necessary.
- Develop detailed technical specifications, user guides, configuration documents, and architectural materials.
- Assist in proposal development, solution presentations, and pre-sales activities with practice leaders.
- Keep updated on ServiceNow releases, platform enhancements, automation strategies, and best practices.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and security standards throughout all work activities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in systems design, integration, or technology consulting, preferably with hands-on ServiceNow delivery expertise.
- Demonstrable proficiency in at least one ServiceNow module or technical area such as ITSM, CSM, CMDB, Automation, Flow Designer, or Integrations.
- Strong analytical and consultative abilities capable of converting business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with end-users and IT teams.
- Competent in technical writing including specifications and detailed documentation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and nurture strong client relationships.
- Awareness of business structures and strategic planning.
- Understanding of industry standards and government regulations related to data communications and networking.
- Familiar with modern DevOps tools and automation best practices.
