Role Overview
This role involves revising and creating contracts along with associated budgets and scopes of work. The individual must ensure that the scope is correctly outlined, budgets correspond accurately to the scope, and any modifications are integrated smoothly into the primary study contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Management and relevant internal teams to formulate budgets encompassing all current and projected costs consistent with the study scope.
- Spend significant time working with operational and finance personnel to update and adjust study budgets using Excel.
- Support negotiations regarding legal contract language utilizing company contracting policies, templates, and fallback options.
- Gain and apply a comprehensive understanding of the company’s different business units to guarantee appropriate contract terms across study types; independently develop and evaluate Agreements, including Work Orders, General Laboratory Services Agreements (GLSAs), and Change Orders.
- Lead negotiation efforts for allocated agreements with varying levels of guidance.
- Monitor and resolve pending contract and budget issues promptly to meet internal and external deadlines and mitigate business and legal risks.
- Engage in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing global contract delivery.
- Regularly provide precise updates on all outstanding contractual documents to management using required systems or tracking tools.
- Serve as the main customer interface for moderately complex contracts, managing and nurturing client relationships.
- Contribute to mentoring peers, including reviewing and approving documents before submission per Contract Management review standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of contract management experience within pharmaceutical or CRO sectors preferred.
- Strong planning, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational competencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- Commitment to outstanding customer service, attention to detail, and persistence coupled with tactfulness.
- Proven ability to operate independently.
- Experience thriving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Negotiation skills are a must.
Physical Demand
- Frequent use of telephone and face-to-face communication, requiring precise hearing and speech interpretation.
- Continuous keyboard use involving repetitive finger motions.
- Prolonged sitting for extended intervals.
