Overview
The Contract Advisor plays a crucial role in ensuring all contractual agreements are legally robust, beneficial to the organization, and aligned with project objectives. This position supports the Client for the GIP Project and involves oversight of various contract-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate diverse contract types such as service agreements, procurement contracts, and subcontracts, ensuring full compliance with laws and company policies.
- Manage contract administration, including supervising amendments, extensions, and renewals to uphold commercial terms.
- Handle change order management by reviewing, documenting, and negotiating change orders, as well as resolving claims and disputes effectively.
- Conduct impact analyses of proposed changes on project scope, schedule, and budget, devising mitigation strategies to facilitate smooth implementation.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships to secure favorable commercial terms and timely delivery of goods and services.
- Identify and assess contract risks, developing mitigation plans and ensuring stakeholder awareness.
- Perform comprehensive legal research to maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations; keep abreast of regulatory changes affecting contract terms.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance contract management processes by adopting best practices for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all contract negotiations and agreements, preparing regular reports on contract status, performance, and compliance for senior management.
- Coordinate closely with project managers to align contract terms with project goals and timelines.
- Ensure contractual deliverables meet established quality standards.
- Oversee contract budgets to guarantee adherence to financial terms.
- Work locations include the Client Office, EPC Contractor's office, or site locations within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related discipline is typically required; advanced degrees or specialized certifications in contract management or legal studies are advantageous.
- At least 20 years of professional experience, with extensive exposure to contract management preferably within EPC, PMC, or analogous environments.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating and managing complex contracts.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills essential for managing contract details and associated risks.
- Proficiency with contract management software and related tools.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or equivalent are highly valued.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development to stay informed of industry standards and legal requirements.
