Position Overview
The Content Marketing Manager is a dynamic storyteller and digital strategist charged with creating engaging, mission-focused content to promote Planned Parenthood of Greater New York’s goals in advocacy, brand recognition, and fundraising. This expert crafts and implements creative campaigns across social media, video, email, web, and emerging platforms to resonate with a diverse audience including patients, supporters, donors, activists, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a steady stream of quality content such as social posts, short videos, graphics, blogs, emails, and story-driven campaigns to amplify reach and deepen audience interaction.
- Produce, edit, and publish timely video material including Reels, TikToks, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage, with capability to present and narrate on camera when needed.
- Source and promote authentic stories from patients, communities, and partners to influence views on sexual and reproductive healthcare and rights.
- Track social media conversations, trends, and best practices to create relevant and impactful digital content that enhances the organization’s online presence.
- Foster and grow online communities through active engagement, social listening, collaborations with influencers, and responsive communication.
- Support integrated marketing and advocacy campaigns aiming to expand audiences, increase engagement, and motivate action.
- Create compelling written and visual content for email marketing, focusing on audience-centered storytelling and copywriting.
- Analyze performance metrics to refine content strategy, boost growth, and optimize digital efforts across platforms.
- Demonstrate creativity and curiosity by experimenting with new digital storytelling and audience engagement methods in fast-moving environments.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Skilled in video editing using specialized software or in-app tools such as Instagram or TikTok.
- Background in reproductive or sexual health, social justice, or similar mission-driven fields preferred.
- Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to various health centers and events within the affiliate’s network.
- Creative aptitude for graphic design across multiple channels though extensive design expertise is not mandatory.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), and social management systems like Sprout Social.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as part of a remote team.
- Exceptional writing skills, delivering clear, concise content rapidly.
- Detail-oriented, proactive communicator with strong time and project management skills.
- Keen interest in emerging digital trends, platforms, cultural movements related to the organization’s mission and values.
- Ability to pinpoint digital opportunities and lead creative content initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3-4 years' experience in social media marketing and digital content management, including tools like Google Analytics and website/content management systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission, purpose, and values of PPGNY.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish considered advantageous.
- Proven capacity for effective writing and editing, with agility to produce timely materials addressing current events.
- Highly self-driven with the ability to work autonomously.
- Energetic, motivated, and initiative-taking approach.
- Capability to simplify complex issues and craft targeted messaging for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects within deadline-oriented settings.
Additional Details
This role requires collaboration at all organizational levels, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality within fast-paced, high-pressure contexts. Flexibility for evening, weekend, or irregular hours aligned with event schedules and intermittent travel is necessary. Physical duties involve extended sitting, occasional standing and walking, lifting objects up to 15 pounds, and significant computer screen time. The position employs standard office technology and requires clear oral communication.
