Role overview
Assystem is a major global nuclear engineering organisation with more than 60 years of experience in highly regulated environments. The business supports public and private sector clients on complex infrastructure programmes that require strong safety and security controls, and it operates across engineering, project management, and digital solutions in 13 countries with a team of 8,000 experts.
The Communications Lead will own the delivery of internal and external communications for the project, helping keep stakeholders informed, connected, and aligned. This role works closely with the Senior Project Manager and client teams to shape communication activity that has clear impact across the programme.
Key responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and deliver the project communications plan.
- Serve as the main communications point of contact for the project.
- Write and distribute newsletters, project updates, and announcements that are engaging and clear.
- Monitor audience engagement and prepare reports on communications performance.
- Plan and coordinate town halls, site visits, and stakeholder events.
- Create campaign collateral such as posters, invitations, infographics, and related materials.
- Manage onboarding communications and keep distribution lists accurate and current.
- Update SharePoint and other internal communication platforms.
- Provide content for corporate newsletters and wider publications.
- Prepare weekly project highlights and milestone communications.
- Improve communication tools, templates, and working processes on an ongoing basis.
- Make sure information handling and document security standards are followed.
Required background
- A degree in communications, marketing, PR, or a similar discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Solid experience in communications work within projects, programmes, or partnership environments.
- Strong written and spoken communication ability.
- Good stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Excellent organisation and the ability to juggle several priorities and deadlines at once.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Confidence to work independently and take full ownership of communications delivery.
- Experience in nuclear, infrastructure, or another regulated sector is preferred.
- Understanding of partnership delivery models and communications across multiple stakeholders is desirable.
Additional information
This position can be offered on either a staff or contract basis. The role is based in Warrington or Cumbria and is an on-site position.
