With a strong focus on employee and customer success, the organization values accountability, technical excellence, and sustainable long-term partnerships.

Role Overview

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be at the forefront of deploying advanced BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA systems for mission-critical and data center projects across Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Finland. This remote, field-based position requires extensive travel (up to 75%) to oversee system commissioning, ensure alignment with engineering design, and guarantee robust, reliable operation post-installation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and execute commissioning for BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA solutions at client sites.
  • Conduct thorough system validation processes, including point-to-point checks and integrated system testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving controls logic, networking, and hardware components.
  • Create, adapt, and improve PLC logic and graphics in SCADA/BMS software throughout commissioning phases.
  • Coordinate smooth integration between mechanical, electrical, and automation systems to ensure synchronized operation.
  • Verify proper system functionality during both normal operations and failover/emergency scenarios, including redundancy testing.
  • Lead high-level commissioning activities (Levels 3–5), supporting client witnessing and achieving final sign-off.
  • Review, interpret, and validate control sequences, engineering documentation, and system narratives against real-world implementation.
  • Document work through detailed reports, commissioning test scripts, and issue logs.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to define and meet project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Ensure effective, proactive communication with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
  • Monitor projects for risks and changes in scope, reporting issues promptly to ensure smooth progression.

Quality, Safety, and Continuous Improvement

  • Adhere strictly to company procedures, quality management systems, and all safety regulations.
  • Maintain exemplary attention to detail and deliver consistently accurate outputs.
  • Identify areas for process optimization, contributing ideas for improved efficiency and project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Controls, or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the commissioning, controls engineering, or system integration domains.
  • Proven expertise working in critical environments such as data centers or other high-availability facilities.
  • Excellent command of BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA systems, with hands-on experience on platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, or Schneider.
  • Solid understanding of electrical/control systems architecture, system integration, and automated commissioning practices (including FAT, SAT, IST).

Benefits

  • Competitive remuneration package with the possibility of annual bonuses.
  • Professional growth through both internal and external technical training programs.
  • Engagement with complex and impactful automation projects within a supportive and principled team culture.
  • Commitment to providing a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable work environment.

Work Environment & Equal Opportunity

This role involves extensive travel, physical activity, and working on-site in field environments. Reasonable accommodations are provided for individuals with disabilities. The company adheres strictly to equal employment opportunity standards, inviting candidates regardless of background, gender, or orientation.
