Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced College Counselor to assist students through every phase of the college admission journey in the United States. This position requires hands-on involvement in guiding students and their families in choosing schools, exploring academic majors, preparing applications, refining essays, planning extracurriculars, and meeting deadlines.
Key Duties
- Provide comprehensive guidance throughout the entire college application cycle, including school selection, major exploration, application strategies, essay assistance, activity documentation, and time management for deadlines.
- Create customized college lists tailored to students' academic achievements, interests, family considerations, and admission competitiveness.
- Conduct individualized meetings with students and their parents to discuss application progress and strategies.
- Support students in developing sincere and distinctive essay topics and deliver constructive feedback on personal statements and supplementary essays.
- Track and monitor students' application status to ensure timely completion of all required documents.
- Counsel students on extracurricular activities, summer programs, competitions, research endeavors, and academic growth opportunities.
- Keep oneself informed about the latest trends and updates in college admissions, including university regulations, testing protocols, and application system changes.
- Work collaboratively with an internal team comprising education advisors, essay instructors, and application specialists to facilitate student success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is mandatory, while a Master’s degree or a college counseling certification is preferred.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in college application counseling, admissions advising, education consulting, or high school college counseling is required.
- Previous experience specifically in college counseling, admissions, or high school advising is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of the United States college admissions system, including the Common Application, University of California applications, and strategies related to major selection.
- Outstanding communication, writing, and organizational skills are essential.
