Job description
Role Summary
Join Eagle Technology's team as a Cloud Engineer focusing on automation, governance, and service improvement efforts that enable scalable growth for the company and its clients. Your contributions will drive operational efficiency, reduce manual workload, and support impactful projects across cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy cloud infrastructure leveraging Terraform.
- Create, maintain, and enhance automation pipelines and integrate systems.
- Assess and select appropriate cloud services that align with technical, business, security, and budget requirements.
- Apply security measures and assist with SecOps initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with customer delivery, security, and operations teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Ensure platform reliability, observability, optimum performance, and cost effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation strategies.
- Document implemented solutions and promote reuse of best practices within the team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, covering compute, storage, networking, IAM, monitoring, and security capabilities, alongside cost management and optimization techniques.
- Advanced expertise with Terraform, including building reusable modules and managing multi-environment deployments across development, testing, and production.
- Proficient in version control with Git, scripting and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Experience creating automation workflows, monitoring and alerting systems, API and event-driven integrations, and leveraging AI coding tools for development.
- Knowledge of managed cloud service environments and multi-team enterprise CI/CD platforms like Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Understanding of reliability engineering principles, observability tools like Grafana, and SRE methodologies.
- Familiarity with IT Service Management processes and tools, such as Jira Service Management, including change, incident, and problem management.
- Relevant certifications are desirable, including Microsoft Certified Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, or AWS Solutions Architect Associate.
- Eligibility to work legally in New Zealand or ability to obtain such rights independently.
Desirable Experience
- Background in SecOps or cloud security practices, including vulnerability management, patching, use of security monitoring tools like Azure Defender or AWS Security Hub, and incident response procedures.
