Job description

Position Overview

The Claims Associate at Walmart Canada is integral in maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting store profitability by efficiently managing damaged and returned merchandise per company policies. This role collaborates with vendors, fellow associates, and customers to ensure proper credit recovery, uphold inventory controls, and facilitate smooth store operations. A combination of meticulous attention to detail and excellent customer service supports the protection of company assets and fosters a positive shopping and workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process damaged and stolen items swiftly and accurately to minimize losses.
  • Prepare and manage returns, vendor requests, recalls, and donations by completing necessary paperwork, packaging, and ensuring timely shipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the claims area by adhering to proper lifting techniques, ladder safety, and chemical disposal procedures.
  • Follow company protocols in handling damaged and recalled items, update claims regularly, and complete paperwork for older claims to decrease chargebacks.
  • Perform Customer Value Program (CVP) tasks as assigned following established procedures.
  • Offer assistance to the Office Support Associate and Direct Store Delivery Associate when required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support business needs.

Role Challenges

  • Manage high volume tasks in a fast-paced environment, including overnight shifts while maintaining energy and focus.
  • Efficiently complete extensive restocking and recovery tasks accurately and within time constraints.
  • Handle physical demands such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform repetitive tasks like stocking, zoning, and product organization with consistent attention to detail and adherence to store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $19.20.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants must be aged 16 years or older.
