Role Overview
The Civil Infrastructure Inspector will be based full-time on-site in North Booval, Queensland. This role entails conducting thorough inspections of civil infrastructure components including roads, drainage systems, utilities, and earthworks. The inspector will verify compliance with design plans, standards, and regulations by reviewing construction drawings, monitoring construction activities, documenting inspection findings, and compiling detailed reports. They will raise non-conformance issues as needed and work closely with contractors, engineers, project managers, and local authorities to address technical and safety concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of civil infrastructure projects ensuring adherence to design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Review construction drawings and compare on-site work against approved plans.
- Document and report inspection findings clearly and precisely.
- Identify and report non-conformances and recommend corrective measures.
- Coordinate and communicate with contractors, engineers, project leads, and local councils to resolve site issues and clarify technical requirements.
- Monitor material quality and workmanship on-site to ensure standards are met.
- Support continuous enhancements in inspection procedures and asset management performance.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical expertise in inspecting civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, utilities, and earthworks.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable compliance codes.
- Knowledge of civil construction standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
- Proficient in preparing detailed inspection reports and maintaining accurate site records.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills for effective collaboration on-site.
- Problem-solving capability to detect non-compliance issues, evaluate risks, and formulate practical solutions.
- Relevant field experience in civil construction, local government, or infrastructure asset management is advantageous.
- Academic qualification such as a certificate, diploma, or degree in civil engineering, construction management, or similar, or comparable industry experience.
- Commitment to occupational health and safety, practicing site-specific and general safe work protocols.
