Description de l'emploi

Role overview

TechCXO is a long-established fractional executive platform built for senior operators who want meaningful influence along with the freedom to run their own practice. In this role, you will act as an embedded chief people leader for growth-stage and middle-market businesses, partnering directly with founders, CEOs, boards, and investors.

Rather than being assigned a client queue, you shape the engagements you pursue and the portfolio you build. You will also collaborate with a national group of experienced leaders across HR, Finance, Revenue Growth, Executive Operations, and Technology.

What you will do

  • Serve as the hands-on people executive for several scaling companies.
  • Guide workforce strategy and organizational well-being for founders, CEOs, boards, and investors.
  • Create and strengthen HR systems, people processes, and culture-building frameworks.
  • Support workforce planning during growth, transformation, mergers and acquisitions, and exit preparation.
  • Develop new client relationships within your market and help expand the practice.
  • Work with other TechCXO service lines to deliver integrated solutions for clients.

Engagement areas

Responsibilities can vary by client and may include people infrastructure, talent and culture, transaction support, business development, and collaboration across the partner network.

People infrastructure

  • Design HR operating models that can scale with the business.
  • Set up or improve core HR capabilities such as HRIS, compensation, benefits, compliance, and total rewards.
  • Build HR policies, employee handbooks, and people operations procedures.
  • Develop performance management programs and review cycles.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws across multi-state and remote teams.
  • Put in place the people foundation needed to move from early stage to significant scale.

Talent and culture

  • Work with leadership on hiring strategy and executive recruitment.
  • Create cultures that attract, develop, and retain strong performers.
  • Build leadership development, succession planning, and career progression frameworks.
  • Lead engagement efforts and assess overall organizational health.
  • Shape employer brand and talent positioning in competitive markets.
  • Coach founders and CEOs on people leadership, team effectiveness, and organizational performance.

Transaction and growth support

  • Handle HR due diligence and people integration during M&A activity.
  • Develop workforce and organization design plans tied to funding and growth milestones.
  • Prepare people operations for investor review and board reporting.
  • Support exit readiness through HR cleanup, retention plans, and documentation.
  • Manage restructurings, reductions in force, and headcount planning carefully and compliantly.
  • Advise on executive pay, equity arrangements, and incentive design.

Business development

  • Grow and maintain referral relationships in your region.
  • Bring in new client work through founders, investors, and advisors.
  • Strengthen relationships with venture capital, private equity, banking, and legal networks.
  • Represent TechCXO as a trusted voice in the people and HR space.

Collaboration

  • Partner with other leaders to deliver comprehensive client support.
  • Contribute tools, frameworks, and thought leadership content.
  • Mentor newer partners when needed.

Ideal background

This opportunity is intended for experienced CHROs and chief people officers who have already operated at the highest level of HR leadership. The strongest fit will bring board-level communication skills, a record of building or rebuilding people functions, and comfort working in dynamic, high-growth environments.

Preferred experience includes leadership in PE-backed, venture-backed, or founder-led companies in the $10M to $500M revenue range, exposure to organizational change or transactions, and prior work as an embedded HR leader rather than only in large enterprise or government settings.

What makes a strong partner

  • Entrepreneurial approach and strong personal ownership.
  • Well-developed regional relationships.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple client settings.
  • Focus on practical execution rather than theory.
  • Collaborative mindset within a peer partnership.

Education and credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or a similar credential is preferred.
  • Deep experience in people leadership, organization design, and HR strategy is expected.

Why this opportunity stands out

  • Work under a recognized national brand.
  • Join a peer community of senior operators across HR, Finance, Technology, and Revenue.
  • Keep your autonomy while benefiting from shared infrastructure, marketing, and business development support.
  • Be part of a durable executive partnership model designed for leaders who want both impact and independence.
