About Kindred Hospital El Paso
Kindred Hospital El Paso is a specialized facility providing long-term acute care (LTAC) for patients recovering from critical and medically complex conditions. The hospital offers intensive care and telemetry services with a focus on personalized recovery plans led by a multidisciplinary team to support patients transitioning to the next level of care.
Role Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will oversee all strategic, operational, and administrative functions of the hospital. This leadership role involves directing daily hospital operations, implementing policies, managing budgets, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective healthcare services aligned with the hospital's mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Approve departmental budgets, forecasts, capital expenditures, staffing based on patient needs, and resource allocation for all designated hospital services.
- Set and endorse hospital policies and procedures that align with the hospital's mission and guide operational service delivery.
- Coordinate integration of hospital services and communicate organizational goals to leadership team members.
- Motivate hospital leaders to execute effective operational, programmatic, and employee engagement strategies.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels through collaboration with administrators to meet patient acuity while optimizing financial resources.
- Oversee timely employee performance evaluations, setting clear expectations and identifying areas for improvement.
- Guarantee comprehensive staff orientation, ongoing training, and continuing education to maintain service competency.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, assess hospital performance, and participate in strategic and operational planning to fulfill organizational objectives.
- Direct marketing and strategic initiatives in consultation with hospital, regional, and division leadership teams.
- Ensure governance policies are effectively implemented across the hospital.
- Prepare and present annual financial budgets showing projected revenues and expenditures for board review.
- Engage with hospital boards, medical staff, and personnel to meet community healthcare needs and monitor clinical activities.
- Provide guidance to hospital leadership on mission adherence, quality standards, compliance, operational objectives, and efficiency targets.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and hospital management on employee relations and staff retention efforts.
- Report consolidated operational results monthly and quarterly to regional leaders.
- Ensure hospital facilities are maintained safely and operationally sound.
- Oversee hospital business functions ensuring optimal financial management of funds.
- Serve as liaison with medical staff and represent the hospital in external engagements.
- Perform additional duties as necessary to support hospital operations individually and collectively.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including word-processing and spreadsheet tools.
- Understanding of JCAHO standards and compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
- Strong abilities in budgeting, accounting, and financial management.
- Knowledge of healthcare cost reporting, profit and loss analysis, and budget compliance.
- Capability to work effectively with management teams across multiple sites.
- Fluent English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
- Reliable attendance record.
- Willingness to travel approximately 5% of the time.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, or a clinical specialty.
- Master’s degree preferred in healthcare administration, business administration, or clinical field.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be accepted.
Experience Requirements
- At least five years of senior management experience in healthcare administration, ideally within hospital operations, human resources, and finance.
- Preferred experience includes sales, marketing, or public relations within healthcare.
- Completion of an Executive Fellow program is a plus and may substitute for certain experience requirements.
- Graduate education and/or Executive Fellow program completion can offset experience years on a case-by-case basis.
