Job Overview

The primary responsibility of the Captain - A320 is to pilot the assigned aircraft safely and efficiently while adhering strictly to the Airline Operational Manual and applicable civil aviation authority regulations. The role requires ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and operational effectiveness during flight operations, alongside leading and coordinating with flight and cabin crew. Emergency responsiveness and maintaining the company’s positive reputation are key aspects of this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the aircraft between scheduled destinations ensuring adherence to safety, operational efficiency, and passenger comfort, prioritizing these factors in order.
• Conduct flights following the airline’s operations manual and regulatory guidelines, maintaining all necessary procedures for safe and smooth aircraft operation.
• Prepare for flights by attending timely, maintaining professional appearance, health, and legal compliance, and performing thorough pre-flight briefings with crew members.
• Coordinate with co-pilots and dispatch personnel regarding aircraft technical status, weather conditions, fuel planning, roles allocation, and other operational details.
• Optimize fuel usage during flights in line with safety regulations and operational guidelines.
• Supervise safety, security, and transit checks throughout flight phases and manage crew actions in case of any irregularities, escalating issues when needed.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to verify the aircraft’s technical condition, address defects promptly, and ensure flight readiness.
• Ensure all flight documentation, including technical logs and reports, are accurately prepared and comply with airline and regulatory standards.
• Maintain and ensure compliance with the Airline Operations Manual among flight crew members.
• Stay updated with legal requirements from aviation authorities and manufacturers such as Airbus relevant to flight operations and crew licensing.
• Perform additional ground-based roles such as Safety or Security Officer as assigned, following company and regulatory procedures.

Qualifications and Training

• Possession of a valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is mandatory.
• Successful completion of technical and psychometric assessments as per airline and aviation standards.
• Medical fitness certification meeting airline and regulatory requirements.
• Formal training in safety and emergency procedures, with additional qualifications considered advantageous.
• Knowledge of airport security procedures and regulations is preferred.
• Training in Crew Resource Management and familiarity with IATA security standards are beneficial.
• Proficiency in aircraft systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong skills in both written and verbal communication including technical report writing and presentations.
• Fluency in English required; additional local languages are an advantage.

Experience and Skills

• Minimum of 4000 flight hours experience; Airbus A320 experience is preferred.
• Experience working with low-cost airlines is highly desirable.
• Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and operational procedures.
• Familiarity with roles related to security or safety in compliance with airline and authority regulations.
• Exposure to quality assurance, safety audits, and flight operations policies.
• Ability to implement airline policies, procedures, and manuals following approved standards.
• Adaptability to high workload environments and unplanned situations.
• Calm, confident, and efficient in managing emergencies and operational threats.
