Overview
We are looking for an experienced Business Data Analyst to support enterprise projects in the Property & Casualty Insurance sector. This role involves extensive work with large-scale data applications including profiling, validation, transformation, and mapping, combined with close interaction with business and technical teams to ensure accuracy and value of data assets. The position is based in Jersey City, NJ, requiring 3-4 days onsite weekly on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive data analysis processes involving profiling, validation, and transformation to enable effective data integration and reporting.
- Create detailed source-to-target data mapping documents that adhere to business requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and business units to capture and interpret functional needs into technical specifications.
- Partner with data engineers and developers to design and verify data consolidation and transformation workflows.
- Optimize complex SQL queries to handle large volumes of data with efficiency and accuracy.
- Engage in data quality evaluations and propose strategies for data cleansing and enrichment.
- Apply specialized knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance, especially policy management and claims lifecycle, to assure data reflects business processes correctly.
- Serve as a liaison among business subject matter experts, data architects, and technical teams to facilitate smooth data delivery and adoption.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over five years of practical experience in data analysis, mapping, and transformation within enterprise data contexts.
- Strong command of SQL including advanced analytical techniques, query tuning, and optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive source-to-target mapping documents and understand ETL and data flow processes.
- Experience in consolidating and standardizing heterogeneous data sources.
- Deep understanding of the Property & Casualty Insurance domain and associated data structures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Proven documentation skills capable of producing clear and concise technical and business documents.
