Biology Analyst - Remote Contract Position

About the Position

We are looking for a Biology Analyst for a remote short-term contract lasting three months. This role involves designing and solving intricate biology problems to evaluate the limits of large language models (LLMs). The position requires 8 hours of work daily, including a 4-hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours. Compensation is $250 per completed task.

Responsibilities

• Create challenging biology problems that test LLM capabilities.
• Develop detailed, stepwise solutions demonstrating clear and rigorous scientific reasoning.
• Partner with researchers focused on LLMs to ensure problem types align with evaluation objectives, particularly in areas where models commonly underperform.
• Assist in establishing new evaluation benchmarks based on Biology curricula, covering topics from early undergraduate to PhD levels.
• Employ structured, logical approaches to analyze and resolve complex biology questions.
• Explain biological concepts effectively using simple language, visuals, and simulations when helpful.
• Offer thorough annotations and constructive feedback to support AI evaluation processes.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines, or current enrollment in a PhD/Postdoctoral program.
• Strong research aptitude and analytical thinking.
• Skilled at providing constructive feedback and comprehensive annotations.
• Creative problem-solving and lateral thinking capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills suitable for collaborative work in a remote environment.
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
• Access to a desktop or laptop computer with reliable internet connectivity.
