Job description

Role Overview

As a Bid Manager, you will play a vital role supporting the global sales efforts for new equipment, particularly within Siemens Energy's Centrifugal Compressors (Single Shaft) product category. This role requires thorough review and configuration of client RFQs, comprehensive coordination across departments, and strategic input to optimize proposals and contractual dealings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze client Requests for Quotations and select appropriate equipment, drivers, and auxiliaries using engineering and selection tools to configure optimized solutions with clear value propositions.
  • Take charge of determining the scope of supply, comment on technical specifications, and handle Buyout RFQs.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors and Project Procurement Managers to conduct cost analyses, prepare pricing offers, and align payment milestones and sub-supplier payment terms.
  • Work with various teams including Regional Coordination, Commercial, Finance, and Field Service to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and complete risk assessment documentation.
  • Seek guidance on commercial risks and coordinate items like Proposal Bill of Materials, System Drawings, Project Scheduling, and maintain CRM tools related to bid management.
  • Support sales managers in formulating technical and commercial strategies to assist in finalizing orders.
  • Contribute to building value propositions by integrating technical activities and vendor products or services into timely proposals that adhere to deadlines.
  • Ensure proposal compliance by reviewing completeness, technical configuration, cash flow analysis, risk assessments, and timely submission.
  • Identify opportunities to improve proposal development efficiency and implement process enhancements.
  • Conduct thorough risk and opportunity analyses focusing on financial aspects like margins, currencies, payment terms, and execution risks before submitting proposals.
  • Review pricing for compliance with established guidelines and recommend price approvals.
  • Manage client clarifications, understand their applications and competitive products, and facilitate project pre-release and order entry for manufacturing.
  • Lead and participate in internal and client kick-off meetings, assisting in preparing approval documentation, and support project/product presentations with professionalism and integrity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 12 to 15 years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with compressor applications is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and selected engineering software tools.
  • Strong communication skills including writing, speaking, and presenting effectively.
  • A team-oriented mindset with proficiency in English; experience working internationally or bilingually is considered a plus.
  • Willingness to undertake domestic and international travel to support training, project presentations, bid clarifications, and kick-off meetings.
