Role Overview

We seek skilled backend engineers to develop core infrastructure for BJAK's AI Neobank application. The role involves creating robust backend services, APIs, and financial product infrastructure capable of scaling across multiple markets and millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend APIs and services for onboarding, user accounts, payments, card management, transfers, rewards, travel, foreign exchange, KYC, and risk management workflows.
• Architect dependable systems supporting live customer transactions, operational processes, and future banking products.
• Collaborate with internal teams, financial partners, payment gateways, AI platforms, and third-party services to integrate backend systems.
• Ensure backend system quality focusing on reliability, security, response time, monitoring, data accuracy, and incident response.
• Work cross-functionally with product, frontend, mobile, and AI teams to deliver features efficiently and safely.
• Enhance current systems by streamlining processes, reducing manual intervention, and automating routine tasks.

Requirements

• Proven experience in backend engineering in production environments.
• Solid knowledge of APIs, databases, authentication and authorization protocols, queues, job management, event-driven architectures, and system integrations.
• Hands-on experience delivering backend services utilized by customers or internal users at significant scale.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on system reliability, security, and data integrity.
• Ability to balance engineering trade-offs involving speed, accuracy, scalability, and maintainability.
• Experience or strong interest in fintech domains such as payments, banking, wallets, KYC, fraud detection, and risk management is advantageous but not mandatory.

This position is fully remote; however, candidates must reside in Singapore due to the focus on that market. The primary language for communication is English, and strong proficiency is required.
