Position Overview
The Communications department seeks an Audience Engagement Assistant to expand outreach and experiment with diverse communication channels. Reporting to the senior social media strategy lead, this role emphasizes audience growth and engagement through social media and public relations efforts. The assistant will be pivotal in designing and executing strategies to connect effectively with key individuals and organizations familiar with the Foundation's mission.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the senior social media strategy lead to craft social media posts reflecting the Foundation's goals, leveraging data on audience patterns, campaign effectiveness, and industry trends to inform content planning and creation.
- Monitor shifts in platform algorithms and adjust social media strategies accordingly, including producing recommendations based on trend analyses and engagement metrics; maintain media and influencer tracking.
- Assist with creating and managing paid social media advertisements and partnerships, including oversight of performance measurement and reporting.
- Aid communications liaisons by preparing and organizing public relations resources such as media contact lists and promotional materials like look books.
- Consistently explore opportunities to reach new audiences by sharing initiatives with media professionals, academics, legislators, and influencers; identify relevant events and partnership possibilities; pursue backlink opportunities to increase web traffic.
- Perform ongoing tracking of media coverage relating to the Foundation and senior executives, issuing timely alerts as needed; compile and analyze metrics related to social media and publicity performance.

Qualifications
- Minimum two years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or journalism, preferably within agencies, corporate teams, or media organizations.
- A college degree is mandatory, ideally in marketing, communications, journalism, international relations, or education.
- Proficient in MS Office, major social media platforms, PR tools such as Cision, and communication workflow software like Wrike and Slack.
- Experience with AI-assisted research tools and a familiarity with ethical considerations involved in their use.

Salary
The role offers a salary range of $74,000 to $80,000 annually, with new hires typically positioned between the lower and midpoint of the range based on experience and qualifications.
