About The Role & Team

We are looking for an Associate Editor to join the Disney Press editorial team. This individual will assist in developing and producing captivating print and digital publications encompassing Disney’s highly acclaimed brands and franchises. Collaboration with editors, writers, designers, licensors, and cross-team partners is essential to deliver exceptional storytelling and quality products for readers of all ages.

The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-focused editorial professional passionate about narrative craft, project management, and working effectively within a vibrant creative environment.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Editorial and is based onsite in Celebration, FL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the editorial development and production of international print and digital publishing projects.
  • Oversee assigned titles throughout all publishing phases, from initial concept through to final delivery.
  • Review manuscripts and layouts ensuring editorial quality, accuracy, and alignment with brand and franchise guidelines.
  • Coordinate approvals and manage feedback loops involving internal teams, licensors, authors, freelancers, and external publishing partners.
  • Maintain project timelines, track milestones, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Work collaboratively with creative, production, franchise management, marketing, and legal departments to successfully launch publishing programs.
  • Offer ideas to enhance content quality, optimize workflows, and improve the reader’s experience.
  • Advocate for Disney’s dedication to superior storytelling across all media and audiences.

Candidate Profile

  • Enthusiasm for literature, storytelling, and the Disney brand portfolio.
  • Strong editorial capabilities including copyediting, proofreading, and manuscript critique.
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven project management experience.
  • High attention to detail and consistency.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and competing priorities seamlessly.
  • A cooperative mindset and eagerness to collaborate across various teams and disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in editorial, publishing, media, or related content development fields.
  • Proven experience managing projects under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience.
  • Experience specifically in children’s publishing, licensed publishing, or entertainment sectors.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and workflow processes.
  • Knowledge of Disney brands and associated franchises.
  • Experience collaborating with freelance contributors and external partners.

The salary range for this Florida role spans from $51,500 to $68,900 annually. Actual compensation considers internal equity, geographic location, relevant expertise, and experience.
