Role overview
KPMG Australia’s Mid-Market & Private – Advisory practice helps organisations create measurable value from strategy design through to execution. The Management Consulting group focuses on business change, delivery of projects, and operational improvement.
What you’ll do
In this Associate Director position, you’ll lead consulting work, develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders, and contribute to expanding the practice. The role spans clients in Local Government, Health and Human Services, Defence Industry, and Mid-Market Corporate sectors, where you’ll help shape practical solutions that deliver long-term impact.
- Take responsibility for consulting assignments from initial scoping through delivery and close-out.
- Work with clients to address strategic, operational, and organisational issues.
- Guide engagement teams and help ensure strong client results and profitable delivery.
- Support business growth through opportunity spotting, proposal preparation, relationship building, and market-facing activity.
- Develop and sustain trusted relationships with executive-level stakeholders across multiple sectors.
- Create solutions backed by structured analysis, data-led insight, and sector understanding.
- Contribute to and lead major bids, pursuits, and practice expansion initiatives.
- Coach and develop Managers and junior colleagues while helping maintain a high-performance culture.
- Work with other KPMG service lines to deliver joined-up client solutions.
- Support the development and direction of the Innovation Strategy & Transformation area.

Experience and qualifications
The ideal candidate brings substantial management consulting or advisory experience, along with a track record of leading multiple client engagements. You should also be able to manage senior relationships, analyse complex issues, and balance competing priorities.
- Extensive background in management consulting or advisory work.
- Demonstrated success leading several client engagements.
- Strong business development ability and experience handling senior client relationships.
- Ability to use structured analysis to solve unclear problems.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, plus the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Experience in operating model design, organisational change, transformation delivery, business process improvement, business case development, and cost optimisation.
- Well-developed interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel when needed and current Australian work rights.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Interstate applicants are welcome, and relocation support is available for suitable candidates moving to Perth.
