Job Overview

WSP Middle East is looking for a seasoned Assistant Resident Engineer specializing in MEP systems for an extensive data centre project near Riyadh. This full-time, on-site position demands active supervision from mobilisation through commissioning to ensure exceptional construction quality and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead daily supervision of MEP construction activities throughout every phase of the project.
  • Monitor contractor outputs for compliance with project specifications and schedules.
  • Verify that construction adheres to approved drawings and industry standards.
  • Review and sanction shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions.
  • Supervise installation of MEP components including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, ELV, and ICT systems.
  • Ensure systems meet mission-critical design criteria such as uptime, redundancy, and resilience.
  • Serve as principal liaison among clients, EPC contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Help resolve technical and on-site challenges promptly.
  • Participate in coordination and progress meetings, delivering detailed updates.
  • Implement rigorous quality assurance processes and inspection protocols.
  • Confirm installations comply with project demands, international standards, and local regulations.
  • Facilitate testing, commissioning, and validation of completed systems.
  • Champion a safety-first culture in all site operations following WSP and client HSE guidelines.
  • Track project milestones, report delays or risks, and assist in planning mitigations.
  • Supervise system commissioning activities ensuring readiness aligned with data centre operational targets.
  • Support documentation and closure of final handover procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • More than 15 years’ experience, particularly with data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive history in onsite construction supervision roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of MEP systems and data centre infrastructure including power, cooling, and ICT.
  • Experience collaborating with EPC contractors on large-scale developments.
  • Previous work experience in the Middle East, ideally Saudi Arabia.
