Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager will supervise and coordinate multiple retail construction projects, ensuring projects meet expected costs, timelines, quality standards, and client satisfaction while following company policies and protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in architectural and civil design processes associated with projects.
- Assist in preparing and managing project budgets.
- Support negotiation and issuance of prime contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Manage contract administration in compliance with company guidelines.
- Oversee control of project expenditures via change orders and contract modifications.
- Help devise corrective plans if project schedules or budgets are at risk.
- Regularly update schedules, cost forecasts, and cash flow with relevant team members.
- Collaborate on establishing project safety initiatives with the superintendent.
- Prepare and process payment requests for contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers promptly.
- Coordinate with accounting to ensure accurate coding and payment of progress draws and recoverable expenses.
- Manage all tenant-related project activities including drawings, scheduling, costs, and tenant satisfaction.
- Build and maintain cooperative relationships with tenant construction managers, architects, and engineers.
- Address and resolve project disputes efficiently.
- Complete project closeout paperwork and facilitate transfer to Operations.
- Follow up on defect rectifications promptly.
- Oversee administrative assistant duties.
- Communicate with building authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Perform general administrative tasks and additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management required.
- Additional professional certifications or designations are a plus.
- Strong comprehension of construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledgeable about construction methodologies and technologies.
- Familiarity with the application and interpretation of building codes.
- Effective prioritization and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capable of engaging all organizational levels and external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Project, and Excel.
