Role Overview
This full-time hybrid position offers flexibility for remote work depending on project demands. The Assistant Project Manager will aid the Project Manager in organizing construction activities, monitoring timelines, and managing documentation across several projects. Key daily duties include supporting material procurement and expediting processes, liaising with subcontractors and suppliers, scheduling inspections, and overseeing logistics to guarantee timely resource delivery.
The role also entails preparing progress reports, recording meeting minutes, delivering project updates, and assisting with site visits to confirm progress, quality standards, and safety compliance. The Assistant Project Manager addresses operational challenges, communicates updates to stakeholders, and helps refine project procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience in expediting materials and supplier coordination.
- Competence in project management including scheduling, scope, cost tracking, and task coordination.
- Inspection skills to assist with site quality control and building code compliance.
- Capabilities in logistics management related to construction resources movement.
- Strong organizational abilities and effective time management to juggle multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication for collaboration with teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Proficiency in project management software, spreadsheets, and general office applications; knowledge of construction documents is advantageous.
- Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, or relevant disciplines, or comparable construction/project coordination experience.
- Understanding of Greater Ottawa area building codes, safety regulations, and construction best practices is a plus.
