As the national Subject Matter Expert (SME) in sealing technologies, you will specialize in Mechanical Seals and Gasket products, playing a key role in enhancing technical expertise within the sales team and promoting profitable growth of the sealing category.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the national SME for sealing products such as gaskets, fluid control, and mechanical seals, delivering advanced technical knowledge and practical application guidance.
• Evaluate operational parameters—including pressure, temperature, media, and shaft speed—to ensure the selection of appropriate products and engineered solutions.
• Support the organization in preparing complex quotations and managing national projects, including conducting failure analyses and root cause investigations.
• Guarantee compliance with supplier standards and industry best practices when making technical recommendations.
• Provide cross-divisional technical sales assistance, collaborating closely with sales teams during customer visits.
• Identify opportunities for product conversion, upgrades, and value-based solutions to boost revenue and improve profit margins.
• Design and deliver structured technical training programmes aimed at enhancing national sealing expertise.
• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation and application guides; mentor team members in solution-based selling techniques.
• Work with Product Management and suppliers on portfolio alignment, new product introductions, quality control, and gathering market insights.
• Support governance efforts and continuous improvement initiatives, including warranty assessment, process standardization, compliance adherence, and operational best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong technical knowledge of sealing products, pump systems, and rotating equipment, preferably with backgrounds in application engineering, technical sales, or MRO/industrial distribution sectors.
• Engineering skills including the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications. A mechanical engineering qualification or relevant trade experience is highly desirable; proficiency with CAD software is advantageous.
• Comprehensive understanding of mechanical seals, sealing systems, gasket materials, and pump fundamentals, including experience working with supplier partners.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct technical training, communicate clearly, and work efficiently both independently and within a team.
• Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage pressure with excellent problem-solving and time-management skills; a strong commitment to Health & Safety practices is essential.
• Competency in business systems and tools; a collaborative team player attitude is important.
