Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair air conditioning and air quality control systems within the hotel facility.
- Conduct repairs, maintenance, and technical servicing of all electrical and mechanical refrigeration units including freezers, refrigerators, ice makers, fan coil units, and chillers.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
- Monitor the efficiency and performance of refrigeration systems and related components.
- Inspect and ensure proper function of door closing systems on walk-in coolers and freezers including door gaskets and latches.
- Maintain and check all defrosting mechanisms and automated ice-making systems.
- Address maintenance requests received from multiple hotel departments promptly.
- Regularly clean fan coil units and filters of air-handling units to ensure optimal performance.
- Evaluate the performance of air-conditioning and chilled water systems.
- Collaborate with engineering team members to troubleshoot air conditioning and refrigeration system faults and configurations.
- Enforce strict regulations concerning the release of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) into the atmosphere.
- Perform overhauls on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems as necessary.
- Check refrigerant and oil levels thoroughly and manage major repair activities accordingly.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Storekeeper regarding the procurement of replacement parts.
- Comply fully with local technical regulations and safety protocols during all maintenance work.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of documented training from a recognized technical or vocational institute in a related field.
- Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in a hotel engineering or maintenance department.
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and electrical schematics accurately.
- Prior experience with VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) or VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) systems is considered advantageous.
