Position Overview

We are looking for an AI Engineer Intern to collaborate with our AI team in building large-scale AI and agentic systems, handling everything from data pipelines to production deployment. This internship offers substantial responsibility, enabling you to manage meaningful components of live systems under close mentorship rather than isolated or theoretical projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define AI-related challenges derived from product goals.
• Assist in designing data pipelines and AI storage systems with guidance from senior engineers.
• Develop and validate AI models utilizing frameworks like PyTorch or JAX and associated tools such as Optax and TensorStore.
• Conduct extensive experiments and evaluate models using performance metrics; perform ablation studies and error analyses.
• Support the construction of inference APIs and batch scoring workflows and integrate AI outputs with backend services.
• Participate in operational excellence practices including model versioning, continuous integration/deployment, monitoring, and logging.
• Gain experience in model optimization techniques such as quantization, batching, and distillation under supervision.
• Support root-cause investigation of production issues alongside senior staff.
• Document experiments, architectural decisions, and process runbooks thoroughly to ensure knowledge transfer.
• Identify and report concerns regarding fairness, transparency, or privacy in datasets or model behavior.

Candidate Profile

• Currently enrolled in BS, MS, or PhD programs in Computer Science, Data Science, or related disciplines.
• Practical experience with machine learning systems from academic projects, research, hackathons, or prior internships.
• Proficient in Python or Rust programming fundamentals including data structures, functions, testing, and code reviews.
• Familiarity with at least one AI/ML library such as PyTorch or JAX, as well as foundational data tools like Pandas and SQL.
• Preferred—but not essential—experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), container technologies (Docker), or model serving frameworks (vLLM, Triton, Ray Serve).
• Effective communication skills for clear documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
