Job description

Role Overview

The Accommodation Porter plays a vital role in delivering a warm and welcoming experience to guests upon their arrival at The Johnstown Estate. This position involves assisting with luggage handling, guiding guests to their rooms, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. The porter serves as the initial point of contact and works in tandem with the front desk and housekeeping teams to guarantee a seamless and pleasant stay for all visitors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome guests as they arrive and aid with their luggage.
  • Escort visitors to their rooms, detailing accommodation features and amenities.
  • Address guest questions and provide information about the property and surrounding locations.
  • Attend to any special guest requests, such as coordinating room service or arranging transportation.
  • Uphold the tidiness and presentation of public areas including the lobby and entrance.
  • Support room maintenance activities, including stripping beds, cleaning, and transporting laundry to designated areas.
  • Manage the restocking and clearing of pantry areas.
  • Deliver guest amenities promptly to rooms as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with front desk personnel to facilitate smooth check-in and check-out experiences.
  • Consistently deliver excellent customer service by anticipating and addressing guest needs.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Accommodation Supervisor.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Completion of Leaving Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of one to two years' experience in a comparable role, ideally within the hospitality sector.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to engage positively with guests, colleagues, and management.
  • Familiarity with the local area and notable tourist attractions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • A customer-focused mindset coupled with a proactive and positive approach to guest satisfaction.
