24 Hour Maintenance Assistant

About the Role

Our Island Home, the Town of Nantucket's nursing facility, is looking for qualified individuals to fill the role of Maintenance Assistant. This role involves a variety of skilled maintenance tasks and assisting with facilities projects as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Strong customer service and communication abilities are vital for success in this position. Candidates with knowledge in basic plumbing, carpentry, and experience handling vehicles and small gas-powered engines will be favored. A valid driver's license, or the ability to obtain one before starting employment, is required.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct general building maintenance tasks.
• Assist with diverse facilities projects under supervision.
• Operate and maintain vehicles and small gas-powered equipment as necessary.
• Provide excellent customer service to staff and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• At least one year of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid driver's license or ability to acquire one prior to employment.

Work Schedule and Compensation

This position requires 24 hours of work weekly. It is a union position under SEIU with a starting pay of $28.45 per hour, which can increase up to $36.04 per hour after 18 years of service with the Town of Nantucket.
