Role Overview
This position is offered through a partner organization seeking a Writer/Editor located in the United States to support significant federal projects. The role involves generating clear, precise, and engaging documentation that supports mission-essential government programs. The Writer/Editor works collaboratively with government stakeholders, experts, and project groups to simplify complex technical and operational data into content suitable for a broad audience. The position blends responsibilities in technical writing, executive communication, document control, and editorial management within a dynamic and teamwork-oriented setting. Key Responsibilities
- Create, revise, and upkeep technical, operational, and executive documentation within a federal program framework.
- Convert intricate information into clear, succinct, and audience-tailored materials.
- Evaluate and polish reports, presentations, briefings, correspondence, and published materials to guarantee precision, uniformity, and readability.
- Edit and update operational and requirements documents as well as leadership communications, ensuring compliance with established standards and style guidelines.
- Produce executive summaries and briefing content derived from comprehensive technical and program materials.
- Partner with authors and subject matter specialists to clarify messages, define audience targets, and set publication deadlines.
- Apply editorial reviews encompassing proofreading, copyediting, and substantive editing.
- Handle document workflows, approvals, and publication timelines to ensure prompt delivery.
- Supervise document organization, version tracking, and maintenance of published materials.
- Align documentation efforts with broader program goals and ongoing organizational priorities.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Management, Business, or an analogous field.
- Have between 3 and 10 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, communications, or document management.
- Demonstrate expertise in technical editing, document creation, and executive-level communications.
- Experienced in fact-checking, managing citations, and adhering to organizational style and formatting standards.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 suite applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Skilled in document formatting, version control, and utilizing Word Track Changes features.
- Background in communications, marketing, business operations, or change management is advantageous.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Exhibit excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills, capable of juggling multiple independent priorities.
- Self-driven, proactive, and adaptable to evolving demands and a fast-paced work environment.
- Capable of forming effective collaborations with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory along with the ability to pass a government background check; prior federal background investigation experience is strongly preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range from $75,000 to $135,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, location, and job specifics.
