Warehouse Manager

Role Summary

This position is responsible for leading the Mbare warehouse for Etero Metal in Harare. The role combines hands-on warehouse control, team supervision, cash and inventory accountability, client interaction, and purchasing support in a busy field-based environment.

Operations and Warehouse Control

• Take complete responsibility for day-to-day activity in the Mbare warehouse, including receiving goods, weighing, sorting, storing, and dispatching materials.
• Apply a strict no-tolerance approach to stock differences, ensuring physical counts always align with the records.
• Carry out surprise stock checks on a regular basis and put anti-theft safeguards in place.
• Lead a site team of around 10 or more employees, including supervision, assigning work, and monitoring performance.

Financial and Reporting Duties

• Manage daily cash and material balances and make sure each day is closed accurately.
• Review and approve operational reports prepared daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Keep precise records of client dealings, movement of materials, and inventory levels.
• Provide direct updates to the General Manager on KPIs, discrepancies, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Client Development and Purchasing

• Represent the company professionally during client meetings and negotiations.
• Make pricing decisions immediately within the set limits and escalate larger approvals to the General Manager.
• Maintain professional contact with competitors to collect market intelligence while staying within ethical and business boundaries.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant should have strong operational discipline, the confidence to challenge issues when needed, and the judgement to balance firmness with relationship-building. The role also requires a commercial mindset, self-direction, and comfort working in a fast-moving field setting.

Essential Requirements

• A valid Class 4 driver’s licence is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in operations, warehouse management, or field procurement is needed.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams of 5 or more people.
• Strong numerical ability for cash handling, stock reconciliation, and variance analysis.
• Background working in a fast-paced field-based environment.
