About the Role
Morgan McKinley is partnering with a key client to find an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee a dynamic warehouse operation. This position is ideal for a proactive leader with extensive expertise in warehousing and distribution management, committed to enhancing operational efficiency, cultivating high-performing teams, and upholding exemplary health and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse operations ensuring timely and accurate receiving, storage, picking, and dispatching of goods.
- Lead and develop warehouse supervisors, team leaders, and operatives through coaching, training, performance management, and resource planning.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture by ensuring compliance with legislation, conducting risk assessments, and delivering safety briefings.
- Maintain inventory precision via regular stock audits, cycle counts, and resolving discrepancies.
- Efficiently plan labor, equipment, and space utilization to meet operational targets.
- Track and report on key performance indicators related to productivity, service quality, accuracy, and cost control.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to bolster efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure safe maintenance and operation of warehouse equipment including forklifts and reach trucks.
- Foster effective partnerships with transport providers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, licensing, and audit standards.
- Manage warehouse budgets with a focus on cost control while sustaining service levels.
- Address and resolve operational issues, customer complaints, and employee relations concerns as necessary.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated success as a Warehouse or Distribution Manager in fast-paced logistics or warehousing settings.
- Proven ability to inspire and develop teams effectively.
- Deep knowledge of warehouse functions, inventory management, and health and safety legislation.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commercially savvy with experience overseeing operational budgets and performance metrics.
- Relevant logistics or management qualifications are a plus.
- Willingness to provide flexible support including occasional out-of-hours or shift work.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on leadership position based within the warehouse. The role requires spending substantial time on the warehouse floor and may involve some manual handling tasks compliant with company safety procedures.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
Accountable for all health and safety matters in the warehouse, ensuring full compliance with legal and company standards, fostering best practices, and ensuring all hazards, near misses, and incidents are properly documented and investigated.
