About the Role

USIC, a nationally renowned leader in underground utility damage prevention and advanced infrastructure services, invites enthusiastic outdoor workers to join as Utility Locators. The company performs over 84 million utility locates annually for a wide spectrum of clients including telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer services. This full-time, daytime role mainly involves working independently in the field using company vehicles and technology to ensure safe and accurate underground utility identification.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and mark underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines accurately and safely.
• Conduct detailed searches within designated areas, documenting each locate with appropriate markings, paperwork, and photographs.

Work Schedule and Environment

Typical shifts occur during daytime hours with occasional weekend and holiday work required to meet a 48-hour turnaround for service requests. Overtime and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, are possible based on operational needs.

Candidate Requirements

• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, with outdoor experience considered advantageous.
• Comfort and proficiency with technology for managing ticket and claims systems.
• Ability to work extra hours, weekends, and be available for on-call shifts as necessary.
• Pass a drug screening test, given the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
• Possess valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
• Capability to work in confined areas, walk extensively, bend, and lift items up to 75 pounds.
• Color vision sufficient to distinguish utility marking colors.
• Ability to read and interpret locate tickets, maps, and blueprints.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with team members, clients, contractors, and property owners.
