Overview

Join our committed and cooperative Rotorua-based team, responsible for supporting essential transmission infrastructure throughout the Lower North Island, including areas such as Manawatū‑Whanganui, Hawke’s Bay, and Wellington. We seek skilled Transmission Line Mechanics who enjoy practical fieldwork, traveling to rural locations, and value safety and teamwork.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly wage ranging from $35 to $42, depending on experience

Role Details

We are hiring two Transmission Line Mechanics to help maintain and execute transmission network projects throughout the region. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy outdoor work, diverse tasks, and being part of a strong, collaborative team.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience as a Transmission Linesman or Line Mechanic
  • EWRB Line Mechanic Registration in Transmission is required, although Trainee Line Mechanic Registration will also be considered
  • Proven technical expertise in transmission or high-voltage electrical environments
  • Preparedness to work remotely in rural or isolated settings
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and delivering quality workmanship
  • Possession of a valid New Zealand driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, construct, and repair transmission towers and related structures
  • Install, replace, and string conductors, insulators, and other hardware
  • Inspect and sustain earthing systems, foundations, and tower components
  • Work safely at heights in varied weather conditions
  • Support planned maintenance activities, emergency repairs, and fault rectification
  • Complete hazard reporting, adhere to Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and comply with rigorous safety protocols
