About 247Bet
247Bet is an innovative sports betting and gaming platform tailored for Africa's vibrant and connected audience. Beyond traditional betting, it blends social interaction, entertainment, and responsible gaming to foster community engagement. The company boasts a skilled team of engineers, designers, and strategists committed to revolutionizing modern betting by making it smart, social, and seamless.
Role Overview
This full-time onsite position based in Lagos reports directly to the Head of Sportsbook. The Trading & Risk Analyst plays a pivotal role in daily trading operations by tracking liabilities across the sportsbook, detecting exposure early to avoid margin risks, and making essential decisions to maintain profitability. With pricing handled by a managed trading partner, the focus lies in assessing when standard pricing does not align with market or customer dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor live liabilities and exposures across all sports and act promptly when thresholds are exceeded.
- Evaluate prices set by the managed trading partner and escalate discrepancies that misalign with local market demands or risk assessments.
- Manage and update market limits, stake factors, and customer risk tiers within predefined boundaries.
- Oversee risk generated through social betting products like copy-betting and tipster followings that can quickly concentrate liabilities.
- Analyze customer betting patterns to detect sharp, arbitrage, syndicate, or bonus-abusing accounts, recommending appropriate restrictions.
- Handle settlement verifications, address queries about void or resettled bets, and assist customer service with trading-related issues.
- Generate daily and weekly reports on margin, turnover, and gross gaming revenue (GGR) segmented by sport, market, and product, providing insights into fluctuation drivers.
- Support promotional activities by assessing the cost and risk implications of price boosts, free bets, accumulator insurance, and enhanced odds prior to launch.
- Provide feedback to engineering and management on tool deficiencies, alerts, and dashboard improvements.
- Participate in in-play trading during peak sports events covering evenings and weekends on a rotational basis.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 2 to 4 years of experience in sports trading, sportsbook risk, or analogous analytical roles within an operator environment.
- Strong understanding of pricing principles including margin, true odds, correlated selections, and the behavior of accumulators and bet builders.
- Hands-on knowledge of customer risk strategies such as stake factoring, limiting, and balancing margin protection against recreational player experience.
- Proficiency working with data, especially SQL or advanced spreadsheet skills, enabling independent data analysis without reliance on pre-built reports.
- In-depth familiarity with football markets and betting behaviors prevalent in emerging markets.
- Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accuracy under pressure, minimizing settlement errors and unmanaged exposures.
- Effective communicator, capable of clearly articulating trading decisions to non-specialist stakeholders.
- Availability to work rotational shifts including evenings and weekends during major sporting fixtures.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience collaborating with managed trading services such as Genius Sports, Betgenius, Sportradar, or similar providers.
- Exposure to alternative markets including virtual sports, esports, or novelty events.
- Insight into Nigerian or broader West African markets, including knowledge of NPFL, prominence of EPL betting preferences, and typical stake sizes.
- Understanding of intersections between payment fraud risks and trading risk management.
- Background working in startup environments or rapidly expanding sportsbooks.
