Role Overview

As a Tractor Driver based in Harare, your primary responsibility will be the safe and efficient operation of tractors and associated agricultural equipment. The role requires following daily work plans, undertaking various field activities such as plowing, planting, and harvesting, and moving goods around the site. Attention to safety, routine equipment inspections, and collaboration with supervision and team members are essential. You will also be expected to contribute to the maintenance and basic care of machinery and promptly report equipment malfunctions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate tractors and agricultural machinery to perform tasks such as plowing, planting, and harvesting.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and prepare machinery for safe use.
  • Transport materials across farms and work sites.
  • Support the loading and unloading of goods and adhere to basic safety measures.
  • Maintain accurate reporting of mechanical issues and operational challenges.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and colleagues to execute planned work efficiently.
  • Observe company and regulatory safety standards at all times while working outdoors.
  • Assist with simple maintenance and cleaning tasks for vehicles and equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Documented proficiency in operating tractors and farm equipment under field conditions.
  • Ability to safely manage trucks and heavy vehicles as needed, including possession of a valid Class A CDL or equivalent heavy vehicle license.
  • Experience in agricultural or industrial environments preferred.
  • Strong grasp of safety requirements in agricultural and transport operations.
  • Physical capability for outdoor labor and manual work over long shifts.
  • Clean driving history and a valid driver’s license.
  • Skill in identifying equipment faults and ensuring machinery readiness.
  • Reliability, strong attention to detail, and ability to follow detailed instructions and schedules.
