Testing and Commissioning Engineer - Substation Automation System

About the Role

This position involves the design, testing, commissioning, and parameterization of substation automation systems with a focus on medium and high voltage intelligent electronic devices (IEDs). The engineer will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and travel throughout Saudi Arabia to participate in on-site commissioning activities focusing on enhancing smart infrastructure in building and industrial automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and parameterize substation control and monitoring systems.
• Configure Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
• Parameterize Bay Control Units (BCUs) and protection digital relays for medium and high voltage IEDs.
• Carry out commissioning procedures such as functional performance testing, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) with relevant witnesses.
• Prepare and document technical reports including panel drawings, test protocols, and SCADA point lists or module data checklists.
• Provide timely project progress reporting to technical project management.
• Ensure compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines throughout all tasks.
• Be updated and comply with applicable end user technical standards and regulations.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing within the team environment.
• Implement cybersecurity measures in the automation systems.
• Travel extensively within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support commissioning activities.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Communication Engineering.
• More than five years of professional experience in related fields.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with Siemens SAS Systems, XENON, and A8000 platforms.
• Certification in Substation Automation Systems and cybersecurity is mandatory.
• Fluency in English is required for effective communication.
