Job Overview
This role involves managing the technical procurement processes related to engineering and maintenance operations for an airline fleet and third-party aircraft. Responsibilities include purchasing spare parts, components, tools, and equipment, handling contracts, purchases, and payments following company standards, regulatory requirements, and approved specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement of technical items adhering to company and Airbus specifications.
- Assist in developing procurement strategies, operating procedures, and supplier KPIs to guarantee quality and competitive pricing before contract finalization.
- Participate in supplier negotiations regarding commercial contract terms and pricing ensuring compliance with airline procedures, quality standards, Airworthiness regulations, and OEM specifications.
- Evaluate and pre-qualify new suppliers in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Finance teams to meet company requirements.
- Assess performance of existing vendors ahead of contract renewals, monitor evaluations and histories, and identify alternatives as necessary.
- Coordinate with Finance to establish credit terms and resolve pricing or payment issues.
- Work with Stores Inspectors to manage discrepancies, damage, or mismatch issues in inventory and resolve these promptly with suppliers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure fleet airworthiness and operational needs are met on schedule.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to improve procurement quality and productivity, escalating concerns and suggestions when needed.
- Support competitive bidding processes to evaluate supplier pricing and sourcing strategies following approved procedures.
- Manage quotation requests, purchase orders, exchange and loan orders via inventory control system, monitor delivery timelines to avoid generation of AOG orders.
- Confirm all procurement entries include agreed prices and delivery aligned with production schedules.
- Coordinate with AOG desk and logistics team for urgent requirements as needed.
- Maintain detailed records and updated databases covering suppliers, transactions, prices, payments, and related information.
- Stay updated on professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management or equivalent; degrees in Aircraft Engineering, Aeronautical, or Electro-Mechanical fields highly preferred.
- Alternatively, advanced diploma or certificate in related fields combined with relevant experience is acceptable.
- Certification in Engineering Inventory Software is advantageous.
- Project Management certification or equivalent practical experience is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Training in Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting, and Quality Assurance is valued and may be mandatory.
- Professional memberships related to aviation industry are beneficial.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including reporting and presentations.
- Fluency in English language.
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a technical procurement role within an airline's Engineering Department, preferably a low-cost carrier.
- Expertise in procurement and inventory management systems, acquisition, and contract management.
- Solid understanding of Civil Aviation Authority legal requirements.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, tender submissions, contracts, and service level agreements of technical nature.
- Proven ability in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, high workload environments alongside engineers and technicians.
- Experience implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and operational manuals in alignment with regulations and quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, analytic skills, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Technical and interpersonal skills that support organizational goals.
- Ability to contribute effectively to achieving business strategies and KPIs.
