Overview
Join Mercer’s New Zealand Fund Services team as a Tax Advisor based in Auckland or Wellington. This hybrid role offers flexible working arrangements and the chance to contribute to tax compliance across Mercer Funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the NZ Tax Manager with compliance duties involving income tax and PIE (Portfolio Investment Entity) tax for Mercer Funds.
- Work closely with external tax advisors, custodians, and registries to ensure all tax-related information and filings are accurate and compliant.
- Review income tax provisions, trust distributions, tax statements, and unit pricing tax accruals to ensure alignment with company policies.
- Ensure all funds comply with internal policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks related to taxation.
- Participate in tax-related projects including new business proposals, restructuring of funds, and product development initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Educational background in business, accounting, tax, law, commerce, or related fields. Progress toward CA qualification is a plus but not mandatory.
- At least 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience in tax roles, ideally with some background in financial services.
- In-depth technical knowledge of New Zealand tax laws, particularly those applying to unit trusts and PIE taxation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
