About Notion

Notion is a collaborative AI-driven workspace designed to unify knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools in a seamless environment. Trusted by millions worldwide—ranging from individuals to large enterprises—Notion's goal is to streamline work by fostering collaboration and reducing fragmentation. Employees at Notion, known as Notinos, embody a commitment to craftsmanship, enduring solutions, and prioritizing the human element in work. The company's vision is not centered around releasing features but setting a benchmark for collaboration in the AI era by automating repetitive tasks and enhancing focus on meaningful work.

Role Overview

This role is part of Notion's evolving People function, with a vision to embed more AI-driven, strategic, and system-oriented approaches to enable every employee to excel. The People team consists of four pillars: Strategic People Partners who consult closely with the business, Talent Management which manages talent programs and resourcing, People Relations who oversee employee relations and escalations, and People Operations managing operational aspects of the employee lifecycle.

The Talent Management position is integral to defining, executing, and refining how talent growth is nurtured at Notion. This role bridges talent philosophy with strategic enablement and operational delivery. It requires deep expertise in talent management, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to implement strategic concepts practically across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and evolve Notion's talent philosophies including performance management, leadership development, career paths, internal mobility, early career support, and high-performance standards.
  • Transform talent principles into practical resources such as tools, rituals, guides, and frameworks for People Partners and business leaders.
  • Anchor talent strategies in business goals and adapt to the changing nature of work.
  • Design and implement sustainable talent systems that are clear, actionable, and avoid unnecessary complexity.
  • Collaborate with People Partners to build scalable talent enablement tools and resources, ensuring alignment between philosophy and operational materials like playbooks and coaching resources.
  • Partner with People leadership to identify gaps and innovate talent strategies aligned with Notion’s mission and values.
  • Develop self-service approaches to empower leaders in talent development and enhance mechanisms for talent identification, engagement, and retention.
  • Lead high-impact talent projects such as early career program development, total rewards redesign, role architecture evolution with AI integration, internal mobility pathways, and leadership enablement.

Work Approach and Culture

  • Collaborate closely as part of the People Partner leadership and Talent Management teams, avoiding siloed work.
  • Combine strategic thinking with rapid execution to iterate solutions while engaging stakeholders effectively.
  • Embrace high standards and craftsmanship while fostering partnership and responsiveness to feedback.
  • Adopt a systems-thinking mindset to create repeatable and scalable processes while knowing when to apply tailored approaches.
  • Focus on aligning talent initiatives directly with business outcomes rather than purely HR activities.
  • Leverage AI capabilities to enhance talent management and use Notion’s platform to support initiatives.
  • Open to starting as an individual contributor with growth driven by impact over formal titles.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Extensive experience in designing, scaling, and evolving talent strategies including performance management, succession planning, and career architecture.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and facilitate cross-functional change without hierarchical authority.
  • Skilled at converting ambiguous talent concepts into scalable tools and frameworks.
  • Strong business acumen with insight into aligning talent decisions with organizational objectives.
  • Enthusiasm for innovating talent management in an AI-augmented environment.

Compensation and Equity

Notion offers highly competitive salary, equity, and benefits packages. For San Francisco-based candidates, the estimated annual base salary range is $230,000 to $270,000, depending on location, role responsibilities, and individual expertise.

Diversity and Inclusion

Notion is committed to equal opportunity employment and welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds. People who do not meet every qualification are encouraged to apply. The company complies with all applicable laws regarding non-discrimination and accommodations, including for applicants with criminal records and disabilities, providing support throughout the application process.

Additional Information

All employees are expected to engage with AI technologies as collaborative tools to enhance their work, although deep AI expertise is not mandatory. The role is fully onsite in San Francisco.
