About the Role
The Ministère des Transports terrestres et aériens du Sénégal is looking for a part-time System Engineer to help develop, implement, and upkeep information systems supporting transport services. Based in Sydney, NSW, this hybrid role involves a combination of on-site and remote responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist in the architectural design, setup, and ongoing improvement of transport-related IT systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and essential applications in mixed on-site and remote settings.
- Monitor system health, performance, and security; identify and address inefficiencies or vulnerabilities as they arise.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults, providing both technical and user-facing support where needed.
- Work collaboratively with internal staff and external suppliers to ensure seamless system integration and operation.
- Accurately document technical processes, configurations, and modifications to support operational transparency and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in system upgrade and integration projects, supporting continual technological advancement.
- Ensure that all systems comply with applicable technical and cybersecurity regulations and standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Strong grounding in Systems Engineering and Design, capable of planning and rolling out scalable, robust solutions.
- Experience in System Administration for server management and application deployment within hybrid IT environments.
- Proven troubleshooting skills for promptly identifying and rectifying system issues, with an ability to guide users and teams through solutions.
- Keen analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated effective collaboration and communication skills, comfortable interacting with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in system monitoring tools, technical documentation, and fundamental networking concepts. Experience with public infrastructure or transport-related systems is desirable.
- Applicable technical education or certifications in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or comparable workplace experience.
