Sushi Chef (CDP)

Role overview

This position sits within the Food & Beverage and Culinary team at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Doha, Qatar. It is a full-time, on-site, non-management role focused on supporting kitchen operations, delivering consistent food quality, and helping maintain smooth service standards.

Core duties

• Oversee and organize the work of cooks and kitchen team members.
• Decide how dishes should be plated and arranged, including decorative presentations.
• Make sure portions, garnishes, and food placement meet the required standards.
• Track how much food is being prepared and monitor production levels.
• Update front-of-house staff on daily specials and items that are unavailable.
• Prepare special orders or replacement items when needed.
• Support cooks and other kitchen staff with a variety of operational tasks.
• Supply cooks with the ingredients and tools they need.
• Keep an eye on kitchen inventory, supplies, and food stock levels.
• Maintain kitchen records related to food safety and food products.
• Check food quality and alert management if anything does not meet specifications.

Leadership and team support

• Help management with recruiting, training, rostering, performance reviews, counseling, discipline, and staff motivation.
• Coach and guide team members to help them perform at a higher standard.

Work standards and safety

• Follow company policies as well as safety and security procedures at all times.
• Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Keep uniform and personal appearance neat and professional.
• Protect confidential information and company property.
• Respond to guest needs in a courteous and timely manner.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and others.
• Build strong working relationships and support shared team goals.

Physical requirements

The role requires extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking, along with frequent reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and moving. The job may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or placing items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Education and experience

A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School degree is preferred. Candidates should have 4 to 6 years of related work experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. No license or certification is required.
