Role overview
We are hiring a meticulous, proactive Supply Chain, Purchasing & Compliance Coordinator to support expanding international operations for a food manufacturing, import, and distribution business. This is a fully remote, full-time role. The position is centered on purchasing and procurement, while also covering supply chain coordination, import support, supplier management, and compliance tracking.
The ideal candidate will bring direct hands-on experience in procurement and supplier communication, plus a solid understanding of logistics, inventory needs, and regulatory documentation. You will help keep sourcing activities efficient, supplier relationships strong, and day-to-day workflows running smoothly across several teams.
Working arrangement
Remote/telecommute role based in Colombia. Full-time schedule aligned to U.S. business hours, with EST–PST overlap preferred.
Compensation and benefits
Pay is $2,500 USD per month, along with paid time off and a performance bonus.
What the role involves
You will support purchasing operations, coordinate with suppliers, manage purchase order flow, assist with import documentation, help maintain compliance records, and provide operational support across internal departments and external partners.
Purchasing and supplier management
- Handle daily purchasing coordination with suppliers in both domestic and international markets.
- Create, follow up on, and maintain purchase orders through the full procurement cycle.
- Develop productive supplier relationships that support pricing competitiveness, availability, and timely delivery.
- Track supplier lead times, buying schedules, and inventory requirements.
- Exchange information with suppliers on pricing, stock status, order progress, and product details.
- Keep supplier files, contracts, and product records up to date.
- Assist with landed cost analysis and review purchasing patterns.
- Investigate and resolve mismatches involving purchase orders, invoices, pricing, and supplier shipments.
Supply chain and import coordination
- Work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and warehouse partners on inbound shipments.
- Monitor shipments from the point of origin through final delivery.
- Compile and organize import paperwork such as commercial invoices, packing lists, Certificates of Analysis, and Bills of Lading.
- Support customs clearance follow-ups and document requests.
- Help address shipping delays, damage, shortages, and transport-related issues.
Food safety and regulatory compliance
- Maintain approved supplier files, compliance documentation, Certificates of Analysis, and audit materials.
- Help ensure alignment with food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate document collection with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory requests.
- Keep operational records well organized, accurate, and ready for audit review.
Customer service and internal support
- Act as a point of contact for customers during the order fulfillment process.
- Respond to shipment-related questions and share timely operational updates.
- Keep internal teams informed about purchase orders, shipments, inventory levels, and operational priorities.
- Support communication between Purchasing, Sales, Operations, Quality, Accounting, and Logistics.
Reporting and process improvement
- Prepare operational reports, purchasing summaries, and inventory-related records.
- Maintain orderly digital filing systems and operational documentation.
- Spot opportunities to improve purchasing workflows, supplier coordination, and overall efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across purchasing, compliance, and supply chain processes.
Required qualifications
- At least 2 years of practical experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, import/export coordination, logistics, or similar operational work.
- Proven experience handling purchasing or procurement tasks directly with suppliers.
- Background coordinating purchase orders, supplier communication, and inventory planning.
- Strong Excel capability and comfort working with operational data.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and order management tools.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken; C1 level is preferred.
- Strong organization and careful attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience collaborating across multiple departments.
Preferred background
- Experience in food manufacturing, food ingredients, import/export, distribution, or a related sector.
- Exposure to procurement or strategic sourcing work.
- Experience dealing directly with both local and international suppliers.
- Familiarity with Syspro or comparable ERP platforms.
- Understanding of food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance processes.

Important considerations
Applicants may be a poor fit if their background is mostly limited to logistics and does not include direct purchasing or procurement responsibilities. Candidates should also be able to show supplier-facing purchase order experience, strong English communication skills, careful documentation habits, and comfort working in a fast-paced, cross-functional setting with multiple priorities.
