Job Description
As a Store Driver at Advance Auto Parts located in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, you will be responsible for delivering automotive parts to professional customers and supporting store operations. This role requires safe driving, customer engagement, product knowledge, and maintaining the store environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick, organize, and safely deliver parts to professional customers.
- Collect returned items and core parts from customers.
- Distribute weekly and monthly sales flyers while promoting current promotions and loyalty initiatives.
- Collect payment from credit accounts on a daily basis.
- Develop and sustain relationships with both MainStreet and National Pro customers, sharing valuable insights gathered during deliveries.
- Support upselling and cross-selling efforts to boost average transaction values.
- Maintain cleanliness of the store premises, including floors, bathrooms, product facing, dusting, and parking lot.
- Handle general stocking duties such as stocking the truck, back stock, and performing inventory cycle counts.
- Stay informed about product inventory and new arrivals to assist customers effectively.
- Engage walk-in customers to identify their needs and suggest suitable parts or services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record is mandatory.
- Proficient English communication skills, both spoken and written; knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
- Ability to read and understand safety guidelines, operational manuals, parts catalogs, and procedural documents.
- Competent in performing basic mathematical operations for measurements and calculations.
- Experience using delivery board systems, inventory management, and store equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with persuasive and friendly communication to build customer relationships.
- Customer service orientation and sales skills to accurately identify customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Willingness to work varied shifts including days, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Prior experience in automotive parts is preferred but not mandatory.
Education and Physical Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- The role demands physical stamina including frequent walking, standing, talking, hearing, handling, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Sharp vision skills including close and distance vision, color perception, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
The majority of work is performed indoors with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The employee may encounter moving machinery, elevated places, chemicals, electrical hazards, and vibration. Noise levels are generally moderate.
