Job Summary

Reporting to the Base Medical Supervisor or Business Operations Manager, you will deliver thorough, safe care to critically ill or injured patients during pre-hospital and inter-facility transports. This role involves specialized flight nursing skills or dual certification in paramedic flight practice, employing emergency procedures and diagnostics.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced assessments, diagnostic, therapeutic, and emergency care for patients transported via rotor-wing, fixed-wing, or ground vehicles.
  • Accurately document assessment, treatment, and stabilization during transport.
  • Complete precise billing documentation related to patient transport.
  • Facilitate effective, timely communications with management and stakeholders.
  • Support public relations and marketing initiatives as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing education, including meetings, chart and equipment reviews, skill labs, clinical rotations, and other learning focused on critical care and transport.
  • Fulfill annual competency requirements and maintain all medical certifications and licensure.
  • Follow medical protocols under supervision of the program Medical Director and Management.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Active RN Compact license required; RN California licensure must be obtainable.
  • At least 3 years current experience in critical care or emergency nursing; 5 years preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and one of TNATC, TNCC, ITLS, or PHTLS; NRP and Instructor certifications are advantageous.
  • CFRN certification required within 24 months of hire.
  • Prior flight or transport nursing experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of PHI Air Medical Group education/orientation program is mandatory.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact across all personnel levels and external contacts.
  • Compliance with weight limits for flight personnel; must maintain body weight below 235 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam, including functional capacity testing and drug screening.
  • Basic computer proficiency for electronic communications and charting.

Schedule and Locations

  • Work rotations of either 7 days on/7 days off or 15 days on/13 days off.
  • Various locations as assigned within Arizona or as needed.
