Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-focused and analytical Software Engineer with strong Java and SQL expertise to join the engineering team in Singapore. The position involves building, enhancing, and supporting reliable software applications while maintaining code quality and following engineering best practices. You will work closely with teams across functions to deliver efficient solutions aligned with technical standards and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, test, and release Java-based applications and services in line with established development standards.
• Create and refine SQL queries and database structures to improve data access and storage efficiency.
• Interpret technical needs and convert them into clear, maintainable code.
• Review code produced by teammates and share practical feedback to support quality improvements.
• Investigate software defects, identify underlying causes, and apply effective fixes.
• Partner with product managers, architects, and engineers to clarify requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Produce documentation for code, technical designs, and architectural decisions to support team knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Java development experience with a solid grasp of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Advanced SQL capability, including query tuning and database design.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience working with relational database management systems.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Familiarity with version control tools such as Git or similar systems.
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Experience with software testing and quality assurance practices.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to commonly used Java frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
• Understanding of software design patterns and architectural concepts.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
• Background in building RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of database performance tuning and indexing methods.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and delivery pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud platforms or microservices-based architectures.
