Role Overview
As part of our inaugural engineering internship program, you will contribute to shaping Notion's future by enhancing performance and reliability. During this 12-week internship from September 14 to December 4, based at our San Francisco office, you will collaborate closely with mentors and teams on AI-native software projects that significantly impact users and developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop clear, secure, well-tested, and documented code.
- Design and improve Notion's product capabilities with an AI-centric approach.
- Build, troubleshoot, and debug software across the stack, including web services, databases, and applications, utilizing modern frameworks and tools.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related fields, with graduation expected before Summer 2027.
- Prior internship experience is preferred.
- Proficiency or progressing proficiency in one or more programming languages such as TypeScript, Node.js, or Python.
- Enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges and a passion for problem identification and resolution.
- Adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
- Availability to work on-site in San Francisco for the internship duration, aligning with the fall semester schedule.
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Strong interest and experience with AI technologies including Large Language Models, embeddings, and machine learning prototypes.
- Analytical problem solver who starts by comprehending context, capable of breaking down difficult problems to find elegant solutions solo or collaboratively. Open to seeking guidance when necessary.

Compensation and Commitment
We provide competitive compensation packages including cash, equity, and benefits tailored by role complexity, location, and experience. For San Francisco-based interns, hourly rates approximate $57 for bachelor's and $61 for master's students.
