About the Role

Join a South Island organisation deeply committed to sustainability and conservation, where technology drives meaningful change. This Senior Project Manager position offers a hands-on role to lead technology-enabled transformations. Situated in Queenstown, the role demands on-site presence at least three days per week to stay closely connected to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

You will spearhead diverse projects ranging from large system implementations and cybersecurity enhancements to AI enablement and system upgrades. Your involvement spans the full lifecycle—from initial scoping, facilitating workshops, and defining objectives, to meticulous planning, resourcing, budgeting, risk management, vendor coordination, executing project governance, and driving change management to ensure adoption and value realization. With a lean team, expect to engage directly and flexibly, balancing agile and waterfall methodologies to meet deadlines and budgets. Additionally, you will manage a Project Manager and a Business Analyst supporting your projects and other initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record delivering complex technology-driven initiatives including implementations, migrations, and business change projects. Strong capability in shaping project scope from broad goals, facilitating workshops and senior stakeholder discussions, and fostering alignment and accountability is essential. Experience managing vendors—from selection assistance, statement of work oversight, to performance monitoring—is required. Comfort working in a nimble environment, taking initiative to maintain momentum while balancing multiple priorities, is vital. Calmness under pressure, adeptness in managing ambiguity, and a robust change and adoption mindset, including collaboration with Learning and Development, complete the profile. Certifications like PMP, PRINCE2, or Scrum and familiarity with delivery and process mapping tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, DevOps, Visio) are advantageous but interpersonal leadership and practical delivery skills are paramount.

What We Offer

This position provides broad influence over technology initiatives from evaluation and selection through to implementation, training, and embedding change. You will enjoy autonomy, trust to deliver impactful results promptly, competitive pay, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, purpose-driven work.
