About the Role
GHD is seeking an experienced Senior Aviation Engineer to join their Aviation team in Hamilton, with the option to be based in Auckland or Christchurch as well. This role is an opportunity to work alongside a network of global experts, participating in major aviation and civil infrastructure projects that drive connectivity and growth across New Zealand and the Pacific region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver senior-level technical guidance and leadership within the Aviation team to ensure outstanding project results.
- Coach, advise, and mentor team members throughout project execution to foster their professional development.
- Play a pivotal role in enhancing GHD’s reputation in the aviation sector, while helping develop a steady pipeline of work in line with strategic ambitions.
- Establish, cultivate, and maintain effective working relationships with clients, industry contacts, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate across departments and disciplines to provide integrated, high-quality engineering solutions.
- Engage in business development activities, including strategic opportunity identification and pursuit.
- Assist in spotting new markets and services, contributing to long-term strategies for business expansion.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
- 10–15 years of experience in aviation or airport engineering consultancy, with a record of technical project leadership.
- Relevant formal engineering or scientific qualifications.
- Keen commercial insight and awareness of sector challenges, both internally and externally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Collaborative attitude with a strong focus on teamwork and sharing knowledge.
